Breaking Barriers: Accredited Trans Misogynoir Training for Legal Professionals

In an increasingly diverse and inclusive world, legal professionals are called upon to understand and address the nuanced challenges faced by underrepresented communities. The Trans Misogynoir training, accredited by the Law Society of Ontario for two (2) EDI Professionalism hours, offers legal practitioners an opportunity to deepen their commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion in the legal system.

This training is uniquely designed to promote a deeper understanding of misogyny, transphobia, and anti-Black racism, which often intersect to create compounded barriers for Black trans and non-binary individuals navigating the legal system. By participating in this program, legal professionals will gain the tools needed to foster inclusive environments and practices that actively combat discrimination and empower marginalized clients.

What to Expect
The training offers a dynamic mix of interactive learning, expert-led discussions, and practical strategies. Participants will explore the following key topics:

  • Understanding Intersectional Biases: Dive into the intersections of misogyny, transphobia, and anti-Black racism to uncover how these biases manifest within the legal system.

  • Addressing Workplace Discrimination: Learn to identify and address sexism, racism, and transphobia within professional environments.

  • Empowering Client Interactions: Cultivate tools to support and uplift clients from marginalized communities during legal processes.

  • Implementing Inclusive Policies: Gain practical insights into creating equitable policies and practices within your organization.

  • Professional Responsibility and Case Law: Explore the ethical obligations and legal precedents related to equity and inclusion in the profession.

Who Should Attend
This training is ideal for lawyers, paralegals, legal professionals, and legal educators who are committed to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within their practice.
